Eddie Murphy is in early talks to host the 84th Annual Academy Awards in February 2012.
According to
Deadline, Oscar producer and movie director
Bret Ratner is meeting with members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this Tuesday to pitch the
Shrek actor as this year’s emcee.
Murphy, according to
Deadline, is “showing interest.”
Two stars who probably won’t be on the shortlist for next year’s Oscars are
Anne Hathaway and
James Franco, whose co-hosting gig at the 2011 show were roundly panned.
